Resources

Below are some resources that have made a difference in my life. As a lifelong learner, many are books. As someone who always strives to do move better and be healthier, many are resources that have helped me with my health. Keep learning. Keep moving.

Books That Made Me Think And Change

I listen to a lot of podcasts and read a lot of books.  I heard a podcaster once say, spend money on books, as they will change you.  I wish I could remember the podcaster. I took this to heart, and I have made an effort to purchase books that will enhance the life of those around me and myself.  I still look at the library apps first, but if I can’t find the book I want at the library, I purchase it.  Below is a list of some of the books I have recently read, and have lead to a change for the better in my daily life.  Click on the title to find it quickly on Amazon.

Breath, by James Nestor.  I now sleep with my mouth taped closed.

Atomic Habits, by James Clear. What systems will I put in place to reach my goals?

Simple Path To Wealth, by JL Collins.  In the middle of reading this now.  It is highly recommended from all the finance blogs I read and podcasts I listen to.

Becoming a Supple Leopard, by Kelly Starrett.  Movement movement movement.

Next Level by Stacy Sims. Aimed at perimenopause and menopause, but I learned a lot from it even through I wasn’t in either of the above categories.

Beauty Counter:

Ok, here is my confession: I don’t wash my face before bed at night. Gasp! I rarely wear makeup, and when I do, it’s only mascara. In looking at the beauty care that I do use, I wanted to make sure that they were as natural as possible. My research led me to BeautyCounter products. I started with the shampoo and conditioner. Within days, I also switched out my soap, face scrub, and sunscreen. After that, I took it a step further and started using night and morning face lotion! It felt great! It was light, and I actually looked forwards to putting it on. I even started to look forwards to washing my face before bed, although that has yet to become a nightly routine, however, it’s getting closer and closer. I loved the product so much that I became a consultant! I am still learning as I go about the routine that works best, but so far I love it all.

ChiliSleep:

I love this mattress pad! I hesitated to purchase it because I sleep well overall and didn’t feel like I needed it, but this took me to a new level of sleep. You can set your Ooler pad to keep you warm or cool, throughout the night. I have mine set to be warm when I get into bed, then cool down after I am asleep, which research has shown to be the best for sleeping.  I then have it set to warm up 30 min before my alarm goes off.  I wake up before my alarm, every day!  The gentle warming wakes me up and I am ready to take on the day.  You can get 15% off the Ooler pad system by clicking here: They have more than just the Ooler pad and offer a 20% discount for chilipad system and a 10% discount on the chiliblanket sleep system
